Hi, I'm Demetra!
After my BSc in Applied Psychology, I studied Clinical Neuropsychology (MSc, University of Groningen) and then decided I wanted a more 'philosophical' rather than 'neuro' insight to our science. That is why I followed with an MA in Philosophy of the Cognitive Science from the same university, where I focused on Phenomenology and 4E Cognition (Embodied, Embedded, Enactive, Extended Mind).
I specialize in existential psychotherapy (trainee in Gignesthai, The Hellenic Society of Existential Psychology) and my approach to therapy is philosophically-informed and applied in the here and now, focusing on the bodily and affective experiences, with the psychotherapeutic relationship being our tool. We are in a constant becoming, and in a quest to understand our freedom and responsibility (authenticity in the existential sense). Through therapy we can get a better access to this road of becoming, as well as, to explore our maps of meaning.

My interest in the field goes beyond the traditional ways of describing, defining, and analyzing human cognition, and I approach mental health with openness, acceptance and respect. Born and raised in Greece, and living in Groningen for the last 5 years, where I provide counselling in English and Greek, in my practice, MindLife Therapy, 5 minutes from the city center.
